PTA survey

Please read what follows and then answer the short survey.

This is our proposed Mission Statement for the PTA:

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at the International School of Nice is an association of parents and teachers in the ISN community dedicated to:
·        SOCIAL NETWORKING - enhancing community interaction;
·        INSPIRATION - facilitating community-wide culture and learning;
·        ENRICHMENT – helping to create a positive environment for the ISN community;
·        REACH OUT - offering local outreach opportunities and animating curriculum and other school programs; and
·        TASK FORCE - monitoring health, safety and well-being at the school.

The following is a list of activities that could be sponsored by the PTA.  Please read them carefully, then, from the list below, choose the activities that are most important to you.

The Winter and Summer Fetes
In the past the PTA has hosted these 2 income-generating, day-long events featuring concerts, refreshments, games and other activities.

Smaller non-acdemic Events and Activities
Such as Halloween, Lower School Easter Egg Hunt, discos.

Visiting Authors and Inspirational Speakers     For the entire ISN community, this program would welcome 1 speaker per trimester focusing on areas of general interest including health, technology, music, self-improvement, arts, inter-cultural learning, etc.

Career Day and College Day
Particularly relevant to US and MS students, these two sessions introduce people from the ISN and local communities in a variety of different professional fields and talents.

Parent Task Forces
These small groups of parents address particular issues affecting the ISN community and can be organized based on interest.  Different Parent Task Forces could include: Health, Food & Water, Security, IT Use & Standards, After-School Activities , Community Service and Academic.  Parent groups would help monitor specific areas and field concerns from the wider ISN community.

Yearbook

The PTA will not produce the yearbook this year, however, we would like to help find a solution whereby students – supervised by adults – work to produce the yearbook over the course of the school-year.

Monthly Coffee Morning/PTA Meeting
1 x per month the PTA hosts a gathering of parents for coffee followed by a meeting to discuss current PTA events.  The coffee offers a socializing/networking opportunity, the PTA meeting is a way of getting involved.

Classroom and School Representatives
Each classroom has a Representative Team of 2 parents.  Each team and classroom is allocated 300EU per year to do with as it wishes; this can include funding holiday parties, graduation extras, exam snacks, and similar.  Classroom Representative Teams also co-ordinate regular communications amongst classroom parents and liaise with the teachers to determine what parent assistance is needed during the year.
